In 2006, Mark Morey left Vermont Wilderness
School to examine his mission and looked to see what is needed
in the big picture. Out of this inquiry he founded the Institute
for Natural Learning, a sole-proprietorship. The Institute explores
ways of paving new paths for regional and national wilderness
schools to follow. Some examples include: Boys Rites of Passage,
Community and Elder development, Regional Networking among the
Northeast wilderness schools, National Art of Mentorings, Native
Relationships and Adult Apprenticeships. Mark and Steve still
run Rite of Passage programs for school groups through Deep Wilds.
Although summer camps were last run in 2006, who knows what the
future holds:
